mASF post by "omega9" posted on: mASF forum: Field Reports Discussion, May 5, 2005I tried the eye contact thing for a little bit way back when I first started
and
had similar results. I've been told before that I can be intimidating.
That'll be
true if you're good looking, have good body language, etc. Actually, a
stripper told me that just the other night. I was dressed really well (some
homeless guy was yelling, "Hey pimp! What's goin' on, pimp!" at me later that
night), and was practicing my super-spread-out body language. It was weird.
Several of the girls would come over and pass by me, and sometimes hesitate
and do some kind of weird subconscious IOIs (like look at me, but not be able
to hold eye contact, then pretend like they didn't see me there, and stand
right in front of me with their back turned and play with their hair and
stuff),
but then they would end up going and asking some AFC-looking guy for a
dance. This girl was one of only two strippers that approached me the entire
night, and I asked her why she thought it was that none of the girls were
approaching me, and she said "you just have this look that most guys don't
have, and it's kind of intimidating." She said I was sexy. I never really
trust
what a stripper says, but I have to wonder if there wasn't a grain of truth to
it.
The other one that approached me actually GAMED me for a while. She didn't
just start out with "do you want a dance?" within the first minute, like I've
seen before; she asked a lot of rapport questions and tried to be a little
sassy
(but was NO match for my cocky & funny, lol!) Anyway...
Moral of the story: If you are good looking and/or have good, confident body
language, women may just be too intimidated to hold eye contact. In fact, I
had a girl tell me today (a very cute girl, by my lights) that she won't hold
eye
contact with a guy she thinks is cute, and that if he comes and talks to her,
she will ignore him, because she's too shy.
My personal response: If women are NOT giving me eye contact or even
looking in my direction, I interpret it as an IOI. If they ARE, I interpret it
as an IOI. ;-)
