mASF post by "stevie_pua" posted on: mASF forum: Field Reports Discussion, July 7, 2003Just over a week ago I met up with Papa, and Sickboy. I spent most of the day
with them, and also hung out for quite a while with Jerry Severin. They are all
COOL guys. In the evening I met with Tyler and Mystery. It was surreal to walk
into a London coffee shop and the first person you see sitting in front of you
is Mystery sarging 2 HBs. I did a double take!
It was an excellent day out, and I think Papa and Sickboy enjoyed meeting up
with me. We talked about the game for a while over breakfast, then went out
into London together.
I was in a talkative mood and enjoyed chatting to people all the time. I think
having met and email bridged a Swedish chick on the train to London set me up
nicely for the rest of the day.
Jerry had to go to meet up with someone, so Papa, Sickboy and I hit the town to
buy some peacocking clothes. I ended up buying a cool jacket with magical
symbols on it. I kept opening chicks using the jacket. I'd get talking to them
and ask them if they like my jacket. I'd tell them I do magic and they should
come to my show some time. They all asked about my magic and that allowed me to
go right into mindreading.
Papa and I sarged a chick on a food stall and she ended up giving us $10 worth
of free food. I did some sets myself and Papa videoed them on his Clie. There
was a good one in a clothing store where I had a 4 set of 2 girls and 2 guys
captivated for about 15 minutes. We hooked up for a couple of hours with
Samastra (Peter) from mASF and checked out peacocking gear altogether.
Sickboy and Papa said my game was pretty good, especially in the area of
talking naturally and congruently with people. Sickboy suggested I experiment
with creating attraction first, and then using all my rapport techniques
afterwards, once they have given IOIs. He believes that will help my game to
improve tons more.
In the evening we went to meet with Tyler, Mystery, and the attendees of the Mystery Method workshop. I knew a few faces and got to chat briefly with Get
Some, who I have had some good online and phone chats with. I wanted to hang
around all night, but I had to work in the morning, so reluctantly, went for
the late night train back to Cambridge.
I had a good (but brief) chat with Tyler about the importance of being
talkative, and spoke a little at the workshop to the attendees about the
importance of non-verbal communication. I really do think the non-verbal stuff
is the elusive missing element in many people's game that can be a "make or
break" difference to success. With the right (congruent?) body language and way
of communicating, you can say almost anything and get away with it. Without
good non-verbal, you often come off as insincere, needy, having an agenda, and
incongruent. Meeting up with skilled people in real life is the best way to
model that non-verbal communication (besides video of them in the field), and
that, to me was, something that I could only get from travelling to London to
meet the guys in real life.
I wish I had more time to watch Mystery sarge. He is the one I really want to
watch next time I get the chance. He is larger than life in every way, and I
can attest to how good he was with the 2 HBs I saw him close. He was doing so
well with them, in fact, that when he introduced me to them as a friend of his,
they kissed me (both of them) as they left, and I hadn't even DONE anything. I
was cool to them just because of Mystery's social proof and perceived value.
I had a great time with the guys, and I think they enjoyed hanging with me too.
That, to me, is what it is all about - having fun, learning together, giving
and receiving feedback and having a blast. I like to think I gave something
back to Papa and Sickboy to stimulate their learnings too. I think I must have
because we are planning to hook up again for the August Papa and Tyler seminar
in London.
Cheers guys.
PS I spin kissed Papa when I first met him. Worked a charm!
