I'd guess that I've dated plenty over 300 girls in the past few years, and some
of them were of the shy or rarely approached competently sort that you
describe. Others were socially savvy girls with huge phone books, social
circles, and connections.
Most pickup artistsget good at having sex with girls from a particular
demographic, and derive rules based on their success in that area. So if a guy
winds up having sex with five hot shy girls in a row, he might derive that most
hot girls are shy. Another guy might have an attraction for hard to get girls,
and base his rules around girls being difficult.
The truth is that you calibrate to the personality as the pickup progresses.
Specific girls respond to specific types of approaches. Some girls need a
challenge in order to feel attraction. Period. Others are totally over it or
never wanted it in the first place, and just want to meet a sincere guy they
can interact with on a normal level.
A pickup artistwho wants the highest approach/sex ratio will learn to
calibrate to the girl quickly, in order to save time. A pickup artistwho
wants a specific kind of girl will tailor his approach to be effective on the
girls that he wants and to be ineffective on the ones he doesn't, in order to
save time. Both pickup artistswill claim that their method is superior. But
ultimately it depends on the goals of the individual.
I can open with any kind of opener. But even so, unless I'm specifically
looking for an LTR, I will tend towards openers that don't leave me in a
position where I have to backtrack should the girl not fall immediately into my
frame. I can always compliment later. The only thing I gain by complimenting
early is a quick hook for a conversation, that I could have gotten in many
other ways anyway.
That said, many guys enjoy this style because it is in alignment with how they
envision pickup should be. And it definitely can work on certain girls. If
you're interested in a sincere compliment type of style, you might enjoy Ursula
Lidstrom's "10 Secrets for Success with Beautiful Women". It's basically a
combo of Direct/SexualState method, that I used non-stop for close to a year
prior to entering the community.
BTW, for the sake of interest, most girls that I've had sex with have given me
the following breakdown:
1- Your approach stood out from all the other guys who
approached.
2- You made me laugh so I always felt comfortable, even when I was doing things
I wouldn't normally do.
3- You took what you wanted instead of asking for it.
4- You were more persistent than any guy I've met.
5- (Conversely) You were a challenge and I didn't think I could get you.
