mASF post by "JohnnyForms" posted on: mASF forum: Field Reports Discussion, August 8, 2005Ok I understand what you mean. The thing I've realised almost straight away
from this board is that fieldwork is king, the theory is good but when you're
feeling nervous and awkward it can be really tough to deliver it effectively,
this can only improve through practise and feeling comfortable with what I'm
saying.
I went out again Friday similiar area and time, my intention was to use some
proper openers rather than just directions. I started off on a busy shopping
street. this was tough, I literally had girls dodging out of my way, trying to
stop girls on a very busy street coming towards you is difficult plus the fact
that there are a lot of people handing out flyers and other bullshit which
makes them put their salesman shield up.
I kind of flaked for the rest of the day, I was out for a while I probably did
around 10 approaches but I didn't go with the openers that I wanted to use, I
didn't feel congruent with these openers.
I did a few situational openers which seem to work well I just need to
transition into the next part of the conversation rather than stalling and
leaving.
I did get to talk for a while with one girl in coffee shop, she opened me, I
got bogged down in boring chat, job etc and while talking I was racking my
brain for some good ss stuff to transition into but it went blank and then it
just kinda fizzled out.
More field work to come next week....
