The Shangri La's 21 Day Sarge

This month is a big month for me, so I've decided to blitz it and go sarging
for 21 days in August. That means MINIMUM - opening 10 sets a day. Gulp!

I hate sarging solo, so this is really me going up against it (i.e. my fear).
However, I'll still do group sarges with other guys - but more solo stuff to
really test what I'm made of.

Okay, here's my first field report.


Day 1

My plan was to do some solo sarging this evening, as I find it the hardest. I
wanted to add a new element to my game, so I decided to hit up some bookshops
in Central London. I think you get lone-wolves more often in bookshops, which
suited my plan.

Anyway, the first 5 openers were hard. I was really fighting myself, (probably
because I'd been thinking about it all day). It was like being a total AFC
again! But as this was going on, I knew that tomorrow would be a lot easier
than today.

I gravitated down to the "magic sarging playground" - Leicester Square. It was
the easy option, because I knew it would be easier for me to open there because
I've done it so often before. Ran into a few LSS players and we hung out for a
while. This must have changed my mood because I opened a lone wolf outside BK
and email closed her. Then I met up with the LSS guys again and one guy pushed
me to open this cute little blond girl "with a direct opener". So I did "Excuse
me, have you ever kissed a complete stranger?" and ended up number closing her
after about 10 minutes! We are going for coffee tomorrow night as she has the
day off work. I arranged that on the spot as she had mentioned she had 2 days
off work. I'll just call or text her tomorrow to fix the time.

I needed to do one more set to complete my "10 a day plan". One of the LLSer's
pushed me into opening an 8 set of giggling girls. They answered the first
opener in a positive mood - then I said I had another one for them and the
leader said "You said you were going to only ask one question" and backturned
me! That blew me out and they all started turning away from me. I said
something like "Hey guys, I need an answer" and a few of them turned back and
answered and then I ejected. Cool though - never opened such a large set
before!

Gonna do some more solo sarging tomorrow and prob catch up for a group sarge
with the guys on Wednesday evening.

Trite as it may sound - the only thing to fear is fear itself.
