Yeah this is a fair point. I guess you can take my point (that
you can be a member of the "in" crowd mostly through attitude)
and yours (that you want the REST of the "in" crowd to treat you
as a member) and realize, I suppose, that congruent performance
is one of the main issues. Perform congruently that you believe
you are a member of the Secret Society, and other members will
notice you acting in the approved manner and will assume you are
"in." In fact, I suspect that this is how most of THEM got into
it in the first place.
Reminds me of the Tom Cruise character in "Eyes Wide Shut." Just
get past the door and the rest of the business is thinking on
your feet based on the right attitude.
