Talking to the guy in off-topic about fighting and revenge got me to thinking about some things. Like, when is it ok to fight? When is it ok to walk away? More importantly though, what’s the difference between walking away, like a man, and running away, like a scared little girl?
I hope you guys that don’t know those differences can take something from this and those of you that DO can hopefully contribute a little bit to the thread. I put this in Advanced because I felt that the feedback from more experienced/seasoned guys would be most beneficial. The topic may not be all that advanced, but I hope that the way we discuss it will be.-Johnny

So part of this game we’re playing is other guys in the field. Some of them are going to be friendly, some neutral…others are going to be downright rude and or stupid. Guys are going to try to start shit. It’s inevitable. So if you’re coming from the level where you’ve never really been out in the field, this is something that you need to be ready for. It’s all just…part of the game.
Now, I’m not writing this up because it’s some SUPER-IMPORTANT aspect of the game. It’s really not. It IS, however, something that can really catch you off-guard if you’re not prepared for it. Say you’re working a set in a bar/club and it’s going really well. Like, you’re getting kino and massive IOI’s from multiple girls. The more these events happen to you, the more you are going to notice guys hating on you, so you should really take the stupidity as a good sign as it means you’re doing something right. So you’re in the above situation, hell, I’ll give you one from personal experience:
I was in a set with a chick I was on a Day2 with. We were at a bar and had been making out pretty heavily. She went to the restroom. I pull out my phone and start composing a text message. I’m half-way through my text when I feel a hand grab me by the neck. It wasn’t TOO hard, like if a friend had grabbed me that way, I wouldn’t have thought anything of it. The only thing that COULD have made it weird was the fact that I DIDN’T know the guy.
Guy: Hey man! What’s this tattoo on your neck?
Now, did I flip out? Slap his hand away? Get all up in his face? Is that what YOU would have done? If you said yes, you would have probably been fighting the guy, gotten thrown out of the bar and guaranteed not to be getting any pussy that night as bloody/ripped clothing aren’t really all that attractive. Neither is fighting in general.
I turn halfway around. I look at him over my shoulder. Hmm…drunk guy, but is he being too friendly or is he being rude? I can’t really tell. What I can tell is that he’s acting retarded either way. You wouldn’t yell at a retard now, would you?
I simply look at him for a moment before turning back to my text.
Johnny: (slightly over my shoulder again) Take a guess…
Now, if you were some drunk beefcake guy and you were trying to start shit with a guy like me (I’m 5’9”, 170 lbs.), how do you think you would respond if I was totally unimpressed, unmoved, definitely NOT scared…in a word: indifferent to you? Well, you wouldn’t have any direction to take the interaction. Even though he was drunk, he knew that much. I imagine he started to feel pretty silly about standing there holding some guy’s neck that was outright ignoring him to continue a text message.
I feel the grip loosen as the guy mumbles what he thinks my tattoo is. He goes away. Situation diffused.
So the key here is being unreactive. This other time, I was out with this girl. It was New Years Eve. I was running around high-fiving people to get in state right at first. Even after I had gotten into a killer state, I was still doing it, just cause it seemed to make girls smile when I’d high-five them. Well, I come up on this one girl and go to give her a high five and she says something nasty to me. It was loud and I couldn’t really hear her, so I smile, laugh a little as I lean in and say, “What?”
And the bitch punches me in the mouth. I’m not kidding you. I was shocked. I was NOT expecting that…but what could I do? I laughed as I tossed my head back before leaning in again and saying:
Johnny: Do it again!
So she starts going off on this little tirade that I knew she would. I turn around and walk away. I get maybe two steps away from her when I feel her plastic drink cup hit me in the back of the neck, the ice and liquid soaking my back…but it was still cool…I was wearing a dark shirt! Not thirty seconds later, I was back on the dancefloor with asses grinding up on me like nothing ever happened. Unreactive, unreactive, unreactive.
Well, a little while later, I’m off to the bathroom again when I see the girl that had punched me, thrown her drink on me. She’s holding hands with this HUGE guy. There is another guy standing on the other side of him. She points me out to the guy. The make a b-line for me. The huge guy stands in front of me and starts getting all in my face. I’m sure that he was yelling something I could have deciphered, had I actually CARED, but all I heard was:
Guy: RARR RARR RARR BITCH! RARR RARR RARR PUSSY!
All the while, I’m looking over his shoulder. I’m standing with my weight on my right foot, leaning back. I’ve got my hands hooked in my back pockets with my thumbs. I continue to look at the beautiful asses over his shoulder until I hear him finally stop yelling. I wait one more second. I look at his friend. His friend and I share a moment.
Johnny: (via Eye-code to the friend) Are they always this fucking stupid?
Without even looking the AMOG in the eyes, I lean in between the guy and his friend and say calmly:
Johnny: Happy New Year guys.
Then I look at the big guy and wait. Having nothing else to ‘say,’ he steps out of my way. Unreactive.
Ok, so that’s a couple examples for you. The thing you guys have to remember here, is that 9 times out of 10, these assholes’ bark is MUCH bigger than their bite. They will do shit to try to make a punk of you, but it’s just intimidation. The only way for it to escalate is for you to react to the frame they are imposing on you. Something to keep in mind the next time some douchebag gets jealous of the action you’re getting.
Friend: (via Eye-code) Yes…yes they are…I’m sorry we have to be caught up in it…here I am just tryin to get a buzz and some pussy on NYE and these two gotta act retarded.
Johnny: (via Eye-code) Don’t worry bro, I know his type.
