When you focus on what's wrong with you, you will ultimately be focusing on what you don't want.
This leads to endless discoveries about how you fall short, and I believe actually leads to more of what you don't want.
I think it's far better to go out there and focus on what you want to accomplish and take baby steps at actual actions.
Instead of examining all the things you do or think that is not solid inner game» I think it's far better to go out there in the world and focus on being unreactive to things for example.
To focus on all your shortcomings or even identify them as such and going as far as to dive in and roll up your sleeves to tackle the problem only makes the problem define you and your identity.
A guy who has problems with anger for instance who focuses on his anger problems is an angry guy. That's his identity. He taps into and feeds off of that identity and it becomes his struggle. His ego identifies with it. As he studies more and more inner game» he goes deeper and deeper uncovering more and more problems to be solved. Soon he becomes a very flawed man with not much to offer and lots of work to do.
I don't feel this leads to confidence or competence.
Much simpler is to take a look at yourself and think about what you would like to do more often. Would you like to speak clearer with a better tonality? Make that your focus of attention.
Would you like to be friendlier and feel more connected with others? Make that and the frames that fuel it your focus of attention.
When you focus on your inner game» then your focus of attention becomes all the problems, of which anyone can always find plenty of. That's why no one is perfect.
It's like if you go out into the field and you focus on the fact that you didn't open that really hot blonde girl instead of focusing on the fact that you did open 5 other girls. Focus on the fact you are opening those girls and then add something new to accomplish for next time to build on that success.
When a faucet has a leak and you focus on the leak you fix the faucet. I don't think that inner game» works that way though.
