I write this post because I've seen many hardworking guys fall under this. Many great posters around here, write about how important relaxation/state. Unfortunately, the common advice to deal with stress or anxiety (emotional stress) is to either “just relax” or “just be yourself”. Most of the time making the problem even worse.

Relaxation induced anxiety (Google it, before making comments)

The problem with advice like “relax” or “be yourself” is that, they imply relaxation as an exercise or something you “do” or even worst “try to do”, putting even higher expectations and exerting a greater deal of stress.

Fear of losing control, fear of experiencing anxiety, obsessive thought loops around anxiety are the effects of this obsessive approach to relaxation or state control.

The essence of relaxing is letting the muscles and thoughts elongate/rest which is physiollogically impossible when one “tries”. What some people (including me) usually do is tense the antagonist muscle or thought in an attempt to let go of the previous tension; in this case the result is the same: tension.

My advice now would be to “LET yourself relax”. I insist, taking a break from seduction or pickup is one of the best thing you can do to get better at seduction. If you listened to goth heavy oneitis metal before, enjoy it again guiltless and relaxed. Take a break from all the self-imposed rules that stop you from relaxing. Eat sugary carbs, watch some TV soap operas if you like, everything is going to be fine as long as you relax.

Tension Relief

Usual advice points toward stretching as a way of relief. Although stretching will indeed release the accumulated tension in the muscles it’s better to learn how to recognize it to avoid any accumulation. The best way to increase awareness of low intensity tension is to contract the muscles at low intensity to lower your sensory treshold and relax at the moment you perceive any stress. By all means learn to stretch first, until all your body is free of noises while stretching. Remember not only emotional changes create stress but also bad posture aka: sitting at your desk for too long.

Meditation is good too it just takes too much time to learn how to do it properly and could cause relaxation induced anxiety.

Relaxation Keypoints

- Your neck does not “crack” when stretching it.
- You only use the muscles you need to perform the task. Crossing of arms or hands are not useful.
- Check if this muscles are relaxed: facial muscles (very important), jaw, tongue, stomach and anus. I can’t remember the poster who wrote about anus relaxation, I’ll look up for him later but it’s $$$$$
